I The Substance

The threads
we call Hyphae.

$MYCEL is the Fungai Art token. Members call them Hyphae — the connecting threads that carry nutrients through the network. They are earned through contribution (sporing) and spent on goods and ceremonies (drawing). Voice and voting power live in a separate, soulbound reputation called mycoTrust — so holding Hyphae never becomes about accumulation.

II Your relationship

The wallet is the witness.

Connect to see your Hyphae and mycoTrust. The wallet doesn’t gate access to the apothecary — it simply reflects your active relationship with the network. Disconnect anytime; the threads you’ve already woven remain.

III Three doors into the network

How Hyphae reach you.

No purchase necessary, no public market. Hyphae come into your wallet through one of three relationships with Fungai Art OÜ. Each door is its own lineage of belonging.

IV A shared language

The vocabulary.

The Mycelium has its own words. They come from the way fungi actually behave — and they help the community speak the same thing.

$MYCEL
The token symbol on Polygon. The technical name.
"$MYCEL contract: 0x…"
Hyphae
What we actually call them. The connecting threads. Singular: a Hypha.
"You have 47 Hyphae"
Sporing
The act of earning Hyphae through contribution. Always a verb.
"She sporeed at Königshyttan last weekend"
Drawing
Spending Hyphae for a product, ceremony, or experience.
"He drew a Solstice Amanita this month"
mycoTrust
Soulbound reputation. Cannot be bought or transferred. Grows with depth, fades with silence.
"She holds 240 mycoTrust"
The Mycelium
The treasury address. Drawn Hyphae flow here, are recycled or composted.
"This batch was drawn back to The Mycelium"
Composting
Burning Hyphae back to soil. Returns scarcity. Anyone can compost their own.
"Annual composting: 18% of treasury"
Gifting
Transferring Hyphae member-to-member with a note. Logged on chain.
"Robin gifted 20 Hyphae to Anna"
V Spore in, draw out

The circulation.

Hyphae move in a circle. They’re sporeed through contribution and drawn through use — the loop is the network. Indicative rates below; final amounts set quarterly by the council and logged on-chain at /sporing.

VI How decisions are made

Mycorrhizal governance.

Holding Hyphae does not give you voting power. mycoTrust does — and it cannot be bought, only earned through ongoing relational depth. It decays without participation, just as mycelial connections wither without flow.

i
Voice grows through depth, not accumulation
mycoTrust is soulbound (non-transferable). It accrues from owner-awarded contributions, peer endorsements from other trusted members, and active participation.
ii
Connections fade without flow
mycoTrust decays at 1% per month of inactivity. A member who hasn’t sporeed, drawn, gifted, or endorsed in 100 months returns to zero — the network breathes.
iii
Peers feed each other
Each member with active trust receives a monthly endorsement budget to recognise contributions from others. This makes governance horizontal, not top-down.
iv
Decisions fruit, they don’t win
Proposals go through composting (open discussion), sporulation (consent voting — 75% approve, zero strong objections), then fruiting (implementation). Inspired by sociocracy and Ostrom’s commons principles.
v
Voice influences, never gates
mycoTrust matters for governance — but never to access products, ceremonies, or events. Hyphae open those doors. The two systems are intentionally distinct.
VII By invitation

Become a thread.

Founding cohort is invitation-based. If Robin or Stephanie has shared the network passcode with you, enter it below to unlock the signup. Your magic link arrives by email — no password, no installation.

Passcode accepted · send my magic link

The link opens the spore portal at /community signed in. Open it on the same device & browser — the auth flow uses PKCE.

VIII Or via the $MYCEL wallet path

Five steps onto the chain.

If you’d rather hold your Hyphae in an actual wallet on Polygon, here’s how. Total time: ~10 minutes, ~€0 in gas. You’ll still need an invitation — the wallet is the receptacle, not the door.

i
Install MetaMask (or any EIP-1193 wallet — Rainbow, Coinbase, Trust). Free browser extension. ~5 minutes. metamask.io
ii
Add Polygon network — chain ID 137. Gas fees are fractions of a cent. The wallet does this automatically the first time you connect to fungai.art.
iii
Reach out — email robin@fungai.art with your wallet address and a few sentences about why you’d like to join the network. Founding cohort is invitation-based.
iv
Receive your first sporing — Robin sporeed you 144 Hyphae as a founding member. You’re now part of the network. Connect on Act II above to see your balance.
v
Contribute, draw, return — the network is alive only when threads carry flow. Show up to a foraging circle. Help at an event. Spend your Hyphae on a tincture. Gift some to a fellow member. The pattern is the practice.
The network breathes when you breathe with it.
Nothing here was ever taken — it was passed along. Spore in. Draw out. Compost what no longer feeds. The pattern is the practice.
